Chinese experts to study Thar coal
STAFF REPORT HYDERABAD: A Chinese university will send its researchers soon to study the Thar coal in collaboration with the Geology Department of University of Sindh.
“Our university has inked two academic linkage with Vice Chancellor agreements with Shadong University of Technology and Shadong University of Economics and Business,” said VC, University of Sindh, Dr Prof Nazir A. Mughal told the media here.
He said that the agreements with the Chinese universities will help students of Sindh University to exchange their research studies on various aspects of coal reserves of Tharparkar.
The VC said that he had signed an MoU during his recent visit to attend the annual conference of North East Asia Council in Hangzhu.
He observed that universities in the United States and the United Kingdom were bearing the crunch of massive cuts, Chinese universities were being given international recognition for higher education.
The Thar coal has emerged as the world’s major deposit and the government of Pakistan is exploring all available options to tap the potential of this natural treasure. This coal has proved to be the best option to generate gas and power, which would help in overcoming the energy crisis in the country.
