PCSIR working to use Thar coal for energy

In order to overcome the energy crisis in the country, the Pakistan Council for Research and Industrial Research (PCSIR) is regularly working at the Thar Coal project and is in close contact with Thar Coal Wing in this regard.

“PCSIR is also planning to produce gas from coal on a larger scale and work on this project will start in near future,” Chairman PCSIR Dr. Shaukat Pervez told the media here last week.

He said that institute of fuel technology of PCSIR is already producing gas from coal on small scale and plan is to extend it on larger scale.

Design in this regard has been finalized to produce diesel from gas and fuel center of PCSIR is working day and night to expedite the process, he maintained.

The PCSIR is one of the premier R&D institutions in the country with a commendable record of applied research. "We have every plan in mind to improve the working of the institute", he added.

Talking about the projects of PCSIR, the Chairman said that a solar institution of PCSIR is working in Hyderabad and heaters and gysers are operated upon by solar energy there.
