Patronising professionals to trigger IT progress Teradata confers awards for big achievements

  With its commitment to promote information and communication technology (ICT) in the country, Teradata Corporation has announced the winners of the 2010 Teradata National Information Technology (IT) Excellence Awards, which recognize the outstanding achievements by individuals in the country’s IT community.

The Teradata National IT Excellence Awards are considered the most prestigious IT awards in Pakistan. These awards have now become an integral part of the IT industry recognizing various professionals associated in the field of Information Technology.

According to details, the award winners are: Excellence in Software Development, Rehan Allahwala, Excellence in IT Software Exports, NetSol Technologies Limited, Excellence in Internetworking, Atif Nazar Ali, Excellence in IT Research and Development, Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Sangi, Excellence in CIO of the Year, Sajjad Kirmani, Excellence in IT Education, Dr. Anwar M. Mirza, Excellence in IT Project Management, Syed Ali Raza, Excellence in IT Media & Publication, Khalid Athar, Excellence in IT Student, Ather Sharif, Excellence in IT Enabled Service Offering, Muhammad Amir Malik, and Lifetime Achievement, Dr. Hamayun Mushtaq Mian.

According to Khuram Rahat, Teradata Managing Director for Pakistan and Bangladesh, "Teradata is very pleased to host the awards programme and recognise individuals who have been instrumental in introducing, promoting and implementing IT in Pakistan.

This is the ninth annual awards event, however, Teradata started making individual awards in 1997, as part of Pakistan's Golden Jubilee to recognize professionals in the information technology.

The awards were conferred by Senator Syed Nayyar Bukhari, Chairman of Judges Appointment Committee. He appreciated the Teradata for encouraging Pakistan's IT professionals and congratulated the winners for achieving excellence in their respective fields.

Christopher Armitage, Area Vice President for United Kingdom, Ireland and Pakistan, said, "The IT Excellence Awards will go a long way towards promoting the development of information technology in Pakistan, and more importantly, encouraging professionals to excel in their fields." He said that as is the tradition in Teradata, the company strives to ensure that the awards are a true reflection of talent, skills and hard work in Pakistan.
